The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) passed the Crisis Intervention Facility Ordinance authored by Councilor Em Legaspi Ang.

Ang mentioned in the preamble clause of the ordinance, which was passed by the August body on September 20, that “crisis situations encompass a spectrum of circumstances brought about by a problem or an emergency, with which a person may find difficulty in coping without needed intervention. These situations may present as family, economic, and community situations, a significant life event, or secondary to a natural element, bringing about life-threatening concerns or mental health challenges.”

It is also included in the ordinance that the City Government shall establish the Crisis Intervention Facility in any appropriate available location or property owned by the city.

The ordinance created a Psychologist III permanent position who must be a licensed psychometrician and shall act as an administrator of the facility.

The appropriation of the ordinance is set at 13,123,023, which will include P10 million for the construction of the facility and P3 million for the personal services and operation expenses of the facility.

Ang also thanked Dr. Edwin Miraflor of the Bacolod City Health Office for his help in the drafting of the said ordinance. (PR)
