Elite troops capture 3 NPA rebels

ELITE government forces have captured three New People’s (NPA rebels in the hinterlands of South Cotabato, the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) reported Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

Major General Steve Crespillo, commander of Westmincom, said the three NPA rebels were captured at Sitio Kangko in Lamlahak village, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, on Saturday afternoon, September 23.

Crespillo identified the captured NPA rebels as follows: Bryan Dusa, alias Ka Bornok, 28; Arnold Itum, 24; and, Phaizal Layol, 23, all members of the Regional Operations Command of the NPA’s, Far South Mindanao Region.

Crespillo said the troops of the 5th Special Forces Battalion (SRB) were conducting military operations when they chanced upon and captured the three NPA rebels at Sitio Kingko in Lamlahak village.

The captured NPA rebels were placed under the custody of the 5SRB for proper disposition.

Crespillo has commended the personnel of the Joint Task Force (JTF)-Central for their numerous accomplishments against the NPA rebels.

He also attributed the military’s successes to the collaborative efforts of the armed forces, partner agencies, stakeholders, and the peace-loving people of Mindanao.(SunStar Zamboanga)
