PRO 7 presents awards to police officers, local government officials as it marks Police Service Anniversary

THE Police Regional Office 7 celebrated its 122nd Police Service Anniversary on Tuesday morning, September 26, 2023, with the theme "Nagkaisang Pulisya at Pamayanan tungo sa Mapayapa at Maunlad na Bansa."

The activity was attended by the different PNP chiefs and officials led by PRO 7 Director Brigadier General Anthony Aberin and various stakeholders from the different local government units.

The focus of the celebration was to recognize the police officers and departments who have achieved tremendous success in their fight against crime as well as local stakeholders who have supported their initiatives.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Gerard Ace Pelare, Aberin's spokesperson, the purpose of awarding prizes is to boost the morale of the police.

The Cebu Police Provincial Office was chosen as the Best Police Provincial Office, the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) was the Best City Police Office, while the Talisay City Police Station was the Best Police Station in the component city category.

The Guadalupe police station of the CCPO was also recognized as the Best City Police Station and the Balamban Police Station was named the Best Municipal Police Station of the CPPO.

The 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company of the Cebu Police Provincial Office was selected as the Best Provincial Mobile Force Company and the Mandaue City Mobile Force Company was chosen as the Best City Mobile Force Company.

Police Colonel Percival Zorilla, the head of Regional Personnel and Records Management, won the award for Best Senior Police Commissioned Officer for Administration.

Police Colonel Elmer Lim, the head of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, won the award for Best Senior Police Commissioned Officer for Operations and came in second overall in the national level.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Joey Bicoy of the Lapu-lapu City Police Office won the award for Best Junior Police Commissioned Officer for Operations and came in second overall at the national level.

The Best Senior Police Non-Commissioned Officer for Operations (PNCO) goes to Police Master Sergeant Jonathan Baquiler of the CCPO, and Best Senior Police Non-Commissioned Officer for Administration goes to Police Chief Master Sergeant Jill Rasonabe of the Bohol Police Provincial Office.

Police Staff Sergeant Emelyn Pinero of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office was named the Best Junior PNCO for Administration, while Police Corporal Britz Brian Cacas of the Negros PPO came in fifth place in the national level for Best Junior PNCO for Operations.

The Regional Legal Office was also named the Best Regional Administrative Support Unit, and the Regional Civil Security Unit was named the Best Regional Operations Support Unit.

The Tagbilaran City police station of the Bohol PPO also received an award for its "Pabahay ni Manang Hepe," a Reading Enhancement, Assessment and Literacy (REAL) program..

Police Captain Amelito Melloria of the Bohol PPO also received a special award as part of the A.M.E.L. (Awarded, Motivated and Educated Law Abiders) program, which is part of their initiative to strengthen relationship between the police and the community.

Additionally, the PRO 7 recognized the local government officials who have made significant contributions to their initiatives, including Congressman Sonny Lagon of the Ako Bisaya Partylist, Undersecretary Terence Calatrava of the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas, Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, mayors Michael Rama of Cebu City, Gerald Anthony Gullas Jr. of Mandaue City, Jonas Cortes of Mandaue City, Junard Ahong Chan of Lapu-Lapu City, and Tuburan Mayor Democrito Diamante.(AYB, TPT)
