A ROOKIE cop was arrested on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, for allegedly killing two people in Malabon City.

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Brigadier General Jose Nartatez Jr. identified the arrested suspect as Patrolman Zenjo del Rosario, who was assigned to the Malabon City Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit.

Nartatez said Del Rosario barged into a residential house in Barangay Acacia around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday and shot the victims.

Alexis Gutierez, owner of the house, and Jay Bacusmo Apas were both killed, while Baby Tadiamon was wounded and is currently being treated in a hospital.

“Through the backtracking of CCTV footage in the area and interview of possible witnesses, the tracker team was able to uncover the identity of the suspect,” said Nartatez.

“Wasting no time, the operatives arrested the suspect and immediately placed him under the custody of the station. He will be subjected to a paraffin test and medical examination. Further, his issued firearm was confiscated for ballistic examination,” he added.

The NCRPO top cop has ordered the conduct of an in-depth investigation on the incident “since the possible motive could be drug related.”

Del Rosario was charged with murder and will also be dismissed from the police service. (SunStar Philippines)
