CAGAYAN de Oro has once again made it to the list of Top 10 Most Competitive Highly Urbanized Cities in the Philippines in 2023.
From placing eighth last year, Cagayan de Oro City is ranked seventh this year among the most competitive highly-urbanized cities in the country, based on the results in the overall ranking of the 2023 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index.
The result was announced during the Philippine Creative Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Congress on Thursday, September 28, 2023.
In the Most Competitive Highly Urbanized Cities category, the city ranked second in resiliency, fifth in innovation, eighth in infrastructure, seventh in government efficiency, and seventh in most improved highly-urbanized city.
Rankings are based on the sum of their scores on five pillars, namely: Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure, Resiliency, and Innovation.
Cagayan de Oro had consistently been among the top 10 competitive highly urbanized cities in the country since 2013.
The Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index is an annual ranking of Philippine cities and municipalities developed by the National Competitiveness Council through the Regional Competitiveness Committees with the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development.
