THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Saturday, September 30, 2023, warned aspiring overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) anew against relying on jobs being offered online.
In a social media post, the DMW, quoting Assistant Secretary Francis Ron de Guzman, warned of the presence of online recruitment scammers.
"We are warning job seekers against online recruitment scammers, who will charge them exorbitant fees for fake and non-existent job offers," said de Guzman.
Instead of banking on jobs offered online and on social media, the DMW official urged jobseekers to just use that of the agency.
He is referring to the Approved Job Orders portal on its official website (www.dmw.gov.ph/approved-job-orders).
"We urge potential overseas job seekers to use it as their source for legitimate overseas job offers as these are from accredited and licensed recruitment agencies," said de Guzman.
In the said portal, the list of job orders was sourced from the licensed recruitment agencies' active job orders.
DMW said the job orders are considered active unless canceled by the employer or concerned recruitment agency. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
