IN THE heart of Cebu's sporting community, a milestone celebration is underway, as the legendary player and coach of baseball and softball, Coach Mario A. Rabadon, turns 70 on October 1st and marks an incredible 60-year journey in the world of sports. Coach Mario's legacy has left an indelible mark on the sporting landscape of Cebu, making this celebration a momentous occasion for the entire Sugbo Softball community.

Coach Mario's journey into the realm of sports commenced at the tender age of ten, igniting a lifelong passion for baseball and softball that would captivate the hearts of many. His early years saw him contributing significantly to various local teams, leaving a lasting impact on competitions such as the Little League in Cebu.

His remarkable talent and unwavering commitment soon earned him recognition on a national scale, representing Cebu in prestigious tournaments such as the UAAP, Palarong Pambansa, and PRISAA. These experiences honed his skills, and they became a source of inspiration for aspiring athletes across the region.

Coach Mario's pursuit of excellence led him to become a varsity athlete at Southwestern University, where he further refined his craft, setting the stage for a successful career both as a player and a coach. To celebrate this momentous occasion and honor Coach Mario's lifelong commitment to the sport, the Sugbo Softball Association, in collaboration with Congressman Edu Rama and the Cebu City Sports Commission, has organized a one-day league event. This special event will be held at the Labangon Elementary School ground and will feature four teams that hold a special place in Coach Mario's heart: Wirednook, Vikings, Bandits, and Rebels. All of these teams are proudly based in Cebu City, reflecting the local roots of the celebration.

Coach Mario's dream has always been to elevate batted sports to the limelight, and his enduring commitment to baseball and softball has inspired countless individuals throughout his six-decade journey.
