32nd Infantry Battalion gets news commander

THE Philippine Army has initiated changes in the leadership of the 32nd Infantry Battalion (IB), which is one of its units assigned here in Mindanao, the military said on Sunday, October 1, 2023.

Installed as the new commander of the 32IB is Lieutenant Colonel Edmond Lanzar, who replaced Lieutenant Colonel Edward Viteño.

Major General Ignatius Patrimonio, commander of the 11th Infantry Division and Joint Task Force (JTF)-Orion, presided over the change of command ceremony held at the headquarters of the 32IB in Matalin village, Malabang, Lanao Del Sur on Friday, September 29.

Prior to his new position, Lanzar was the former Acting Chief of Staff for Intelligence and the acting commanding officer of 15th Civil-Military "Bainglasahun" Battalion.

During the change of command ceremony, Patrimonio pinned the Military Merit Medal and awarded Viteño with the Plaque of Recognition for his exemplary performance of duty that enormously contributed to the mission of the JTF-Orion.

Viteño took the opportunity to thank the command and his troops for the remarkable experience as battalion commander.

"I'm filled with gratitude, pride and a profound sense of responsibility leading this remarkable battalion. My deepest gratitude to brave men and women of 32IB for their unwavering commitment and relentless spirit. The legacy of our battalion is in capable hands, I have no doubts that you will continue to excel. I will cherish our bond for the rest of my life," Viteño said.

Meanwhile, Lanzar expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity entrusted to his as the newly installed commanding officer of the 32IB, one of the fightest battalion.

"I am honored to serve and I deeply appreciate the trust and confidence that the Command placed in me. To the men and women of 32IB, I look forward to working with each and everyone of you. Together, we shall continue to strive for excellence and let us face challenges ahead with fortitude and determination," Lanzar said.

In his message, Patrimonio thanked and lauded Viteño for his excellent leadership.
