UP TO 470 persons involved in various crimes in the Central Visayas were arrested during the two-day Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (Sacleo) held on September 29 to 30, 2023.

The Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO 7) seized P4.6 million worth of suspected shabu and marijuana and arrested 136 drug personalities during the aforementioned anti-criminality operations.

PRO 7 Director Brigadier General Anthony Aberin's spokesman, Police Lieutenant Colonel Gerard Ace Pelare, stated that were fewer illegal substances seized in the recent Sacleo than in the past weeks.

"Atung nabantayan in the last 2 weeks nigamay ang confiscation, kini siguro sa among tan-aw usa ni ka indikasyon nga epektibo ang atoang illegal drug supply reduction strategy. Pero di ta mag kompyansa kay posibli nga sa umaabot nga election naa say pagdaghan sa illegal drugs nga supply," Pelare said.

(We have noticed a decrease in confiscations over the last two weeks, and this is probably an indication that our strategy for reducing the supply of illegal drugs is working).

In the fight against illegal weapons, the PRO 7 arrested 13 persons while 149 firearms and two explosives were confiscated.

Pelare stated that because of the Commission of Election's ongoing gun ban for the October 30 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election, they have increased their efforts to seize illegal firearms.

In their campaign against illegal gambling, 198 gamblers were detained, and P17,189 in bet money were seized.

While in the fight against wanted persons, 123 individuals with outstanding arrest warrants, including four most wanted, were captured by the police.(AYB, TPT)
