Barmm’s housing program to benefit more SGA residents

RESIDENTS in the Special Geographic Area (SGA) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm) continue to benefit for deciding to join the autonomous region.

This as Barmm’s Kapayapaan sa Pamayanan (Kapyanan) program broke ground last week for the construction of 100 core shelters in Carmen Cluster – with 50 houses to be built in Kibayao village and the other 50 in Manarapan village.

With a lot area of about 120 square meters, the three-bedroom shelters will feature a dining and living room, and a front porch. It will be equipped with solar power and a water system to make living more convenient.

Jordan Katug, project development officer, said the projects in the Carmen Cluster are exceptionally well implemented due to proper coordination and a sense of care from their partner implementers.

“Ang maganda sa proyekto natin dito ay nakikita natin yung pagpapahalaga dito kaya naipapatupad ng maayos," Katug said.

Moreover, Katug said the implementation of similar project is also ongoing in the villages of Tupic, Kitulaan, and Langocan in Carmen Cluster.

Once the project is completed, it will benefit 150 recipients.

Kapyanan is one of the flagship programs of the Office of the Chief Minister of Barmm, which provides core shelters primarily for the poorest of the poor in the region, internally displaced persons, and those who lost their loved ones during war.

Community facilitators of Kapyanan are working closely with local officials and other partner implementers to ensure that core shelters will be awarded to those who deserve it. (SunStar Zamboanga)
