The City Government of Victorias successfully completed the 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) National Evaluation, Sept. 28.
For a consecutive year, Victorias LGU vied for the coveted award and underwent a rigorous process of evaluation, from the ocular visit to the document review.
“We, in Victorias, have been striving to achieve an above-standard service for all Victoriahanons, to foster a distinct culture of excellence, and stay committed to exemplify a clean, efficient, and inclusive governance,” city mayor Javier Miguel Benitez said in his message.
He also emphasized that the LGU was able to qualify in both the national and regional evaluations through cooperative action and unity.
The national evaluation team from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region III assessed the financial administration; disaster preparedness; social protection and sensitivity program; safety, peace, and order; business-friendliness and competitiveness; environmental management; tourism, heritage development, culture, and arts; youth development; program for the sustainable program and; health compliance and responsiveness of the LGU.
DILG Region III Director Anthony Nuyda, CESO III, Assistant Division Chief Aldwin Reyes, and LGOO V Isaac Joshua Macabali were on the panel of evaluators.
Along with the evaluation team, DILG Negros Occidental Director Teodora Sumagaysay, CESO V, Cluster Heads LGOO VII Grace Natalie Azarraga, LGOO VII Jean Quistadio, LGOO VII Ruth Leda Alagban, LGOO VI Cherry Lacida, DILG SGLG Focal Person Deo Orquejo, DILG Victorias CLGOO Stephanie Almira also joined the evaluation.
Vice Mayor Abelardo Bantug III, city councilors, barangay captains, department heads, City Administrator Atty. Lindolf De Castro, PNP Chief of Police PLTCOL Roy Rodrigo Gutierrez, School Division Superintendent Dr. Portia Mallorca, DepEd supervisors, and employees convened for the SGLG.
Through this year’s evaluation, Victorias LGU was identified in compliance with all the set indicators of good local governance. It hopes to achieve the Seal of Good Local Governance this year. (PR)
