AUTHORITIES arrested the former mayor of Dingras, Ilocos Norte who has been listed as the second most wanted person in the province.
National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Brigadier General Jose Nartatez Jr. said former Dingras mayor Marynette Gamboa was arrested on September 30, 2023 in a resort in Calamba City, Laguna.
Gamboa has a standing arrest warrant for the crime of murder issued by the Ilocos Norte regional trial court on July 11, 2022.
Gamboa was tagged as the alleged mastermind in the killing of Ilocos Norte, Electric Cooperative president Lorenzo Rey Ruiz in 2009.
She has also been accused as the brains behind the ambush of Dingras Mayor-elect Jeffrey Saguid and Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Member Robert Castro in December 2009.
Gamboa was arrested in May 2019 but was released two weeks later after the judge lifted the arrest warrant against her due to a motion for reconsideration on her case. (SunStar Philippines)
