A WOMAN who was caught on CCTV looting the donation box inside the Adoration Chapel of San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish in Barangay Tisa, Cebu City on September 28, 2023, can now get away with the crime that she committed after the parish priest decided not to press charges against her.
According to Police Major Angelito Valleser, the chief of Labangon Police Station, Rev. Fr. Jed Matella, the parish priest, sent a representative to his office to have the incident recorded in the police blotter.
Valleser said that the representative asked them to help identify the culprit because Fr. Matella wanted to talk to her.
"Niingon raman to sir nga gusto ni father nga mailhan kinsa to siya kay gusto siya nga makig estorya lang, dili na siya mo reklamo." matud ni Valleser.
(He (representative) just stated sir that father wants to know the culprit in order to talk to her and not file any charges against her).
Valleser said that he already ordered his men to track the whereabouts of the woman.
Valleser thought that the priest might have felt sympathy for the woman and wished to know more about her situation in life.
In the CCTV footage that went viral in the social media, the woman can be seen entering a room with an infant and stealing the contents of the donation box.
Many netizens believe the woman did it because of hardship. (AYB, TPT)
