DABAWENYA content creator Christy Tabanyag, popularly known as Miss Deliciousness (@christy_tabanyag), wins the 2023 TikTok Philippines Rising Star of the Year.
She is the only content creator from Davao Region who won in this year’s prestigious awards.
“I am overwhelmed. I am already grateful when I knew I was nominated as Tiktok Rising Star of the Year. Now, I am so happy and it’s fulfilling for me as a content creator to receive this award,” she said.
Looking back, the 29-year-old online personality shared entertaining people has always been her passion.
“I love entertaining people through hosting, dancing, and performing comedic acts but never did I think of content creation, it’s something that came to me unexpectedly,” Tabanyag said.
She rose to prominence in October 2020 when her funny food review video went viral hence her monicker “Miss Delicousness.” At present, she has some 715,800 followers on TikTok and over 800,000 on Facebook. She is also part of the emerging podcast channel called “Queerfully Yours” together with other three digital creators Chardie B, Poca, and Steven Bansil.
But her journey in the sea of content creation is not as smooth sailing as what many assumed it to be.
“I’ve faced a lot of challenges in the online realm. I was bashed and judged many times to the point that I almost feel hopeless. However, I realized that it will also help me to create better content. So, I just continue showing my authenticity and kept on creating videos that are relatable and funny,” she underscored.
With this recent milestone, Tabanyag dedicated the award to all the people who supported her in her journey - these are her loving family, friends, relatives, co-workers, her management, and most especially her followers.
“As long as I am able and capable, I will upload more funny content. Thank you for accepting my authenticity. I will work so hard to ensure I will remain authentic and keep you guys happy!” the Bachlelor of Science in Accounting Technology graduate said.
The Davao-born, Panabo-raised talent reminded also the aspiring content creators that there’s no need to change one’s authentic self to shine and succeed.
“I really believe that one day you will shine bright without changing yourself to the satisfaction of others. Just be creative, confident, authentic, sensitive, and accept feedback. Don’t stop doing what makes you happy and what you are good at,” she said.
The TikTok Philippines’ rising star hopes to create more travel vlogs and cooking shows on her social media platforms moving forward.
“And who knows, you will see me in the big screens?” Tabanyag hinted.
The TikTok Philippines Awards 2023, broadcasted on September 30, was held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City. For the third edition of the social media giant’s awards event, various content creators from across the Philippines were all dressed in extravagant modern Filipiniana and Barong ensemble. It was hosted by fashion creator Jaz Reyes (_jazreyes) and digital “Tito” Mikee Reyes (_mikeereyes).
