363 new soldiers undergo infantry orientation course

A TOTAL of 363 candidate soldier course graduates are undergoing an Infantry Orientation Course at the 1st Division Training School (1DTS) in Camp Major Cesar Sang-an in Pulacan, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur.

The training, which is set to be completed in eight weeks, reeled off on Monday, October 2. The 363 participants of the training belong to the Infantry Orientation Course Class 08-2023.

The Army’s 1st Infantry Division (ID) said in a statement on Thursday, October 5, that the Infantry Orientation Course is an integral part of the Division’s training program, equipping trainees with the necessary skills, knowledge and mindset to excel in the demanding field of infantry operations.

“This training program will also feature demonstrations and displays showcasing the advanced training facilities and equipment utilized during the Infantry Orientation Course,” the 1ID said.

“The trainees’ will proceed in an intense physical and mental challenges, as well as the comprehensive training methods employed by their dedicated and experienced instructors,” the 1ID added.

Colonel Rommel Cabanayan, 1ID’s assistant chief of staff for education and training, made an encouraging keynote address, emphasizing the significance of “this milestone and the dedication of the trainees’ and their instructors.”

“The Infantry Orientation Course represents the Division’s ongoing commitment to maintaining a highly skilled and capable infantry force,” Cabanayan said.

“By investing in the development and training of our recruits, we ensure that they are prepared to face any challenges that may arise in the defense of our nation,” Cabanayan added.

The training’s opening ceremony commenced with a formal procession and the trainees underwent traditional reception rites, led by their instructors and senior officers. (SunStar Zamboanga)
