Vice President Sara Duterte cannot and should not have confidential funding. That’s the point. The Vice President does not have the mandate or the job function that requires millions of confidential funds. Ang reklamo ng taumbayan ay hindi dapat ang Office of the Vice President (OVP) o ang Department of Education (DepEd) ang gumagamit ng confidential funds dahil hindi nila trabaho ‘yun (The complaint of the general public is that the OVP or the DepEd should not have confidential funds because that’s not part of its job).
In a speech during the 122nd Police Service Anniversary of the Philippine National Police Regional Office 13, Duterte said that anyone who “undermines funds allocated for peace and order is naturally assumed to have insidious motivations.” She added in Tagalog that whoever opposed confidential funds was an enemy of the people.
The House of Representatives recently committed to realigning confidential funding to agencies protecting the West Philippine Sea such as the Philippine Coast Guard, the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, and the National Security Council.
We supported the realignment, emphasizing the very urgent need to defend the country’s fisherfolk as well as bolster our naval presence against aggression from China.
VP Sara, kung kailan tapos na ang budget hearings sa confidential and intelligence funds mo, saka ka naman salita ng salita (now you start making noise when the budget hearings for your confidential and intelligence funds are over). Bakit hindi mo ginawa noong (Why didn’t you say anything during the) budget deliberations? You ran away from that battle, but now you fan the flames of war?
We support the realignment of confidential resources to the agencies and offices that need them the most. Especially those who defend our people and territory in the West Philippine Sea. These are the people who need more help, not some spoiled brat who is too used to getting her way.
Hindi kami tutol sa (We are not against) confidential funds. Tutol kami na si VP Sara ang gumamit at magkaroon ng (We are against the fact that VP Sara will be using and will have) confidential funds.
