Businessman survives slay try

A BUSINESSMAN escaped a slay try, although slightly wounded, in a drive-by gun attack in Zamboanga City, the police reported.

The Zamboanga City Police Station 6 (ZCPS6) said the incident happened around 6:15 p.m. Thursday, October 5, along Dr. Natividad Street in Tetuan village, Zamboanga City.

The ZCPS6 identified the victim as Quirino Julian Midel, Jr., 46, a resident of Mormon’s Drive in Tetuan village, Zamboanga City. Midel is engaged in construction business.

Investigation showed Midel was driving his vehicle on the way home when shot repeatedly by one of two men riding tandem in a motorcycle that tailed the victim.

Midel, who was hit in the hand, drove fast and proceeded to ZCPS6 in Tetuan village and reported the incident to the police.

The suspects fled towards the direction of nearby village, the ZCPS6 said.

Recovered the crime scene were seven spent shells of caliber .45 pistol and a deformed slug.

Investigation continues to determine the identities of the suspects behind the incident, the police said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
