A YOUNG farmer survived, although wounded, in a bolo attack by his drinking buddy in an east coast village of Zamboanga City, as reported by the police on Thursday, October 12, 2023

The Zamboanga City Police Station 2 (ZCPS2) reported the incident happened around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, at Sitio Sapa Colebra in Latuan village, 52.8 kilometers east of this city.

The ZCPS2 identified the victim as Aris Jay Noyad, 21. He suffered hacked wounds on his forehead, back, arms and legs.

Investigation showed that prior to the incident, Moyad was having a drinking spree together with the suspect, Romeo Cabayacruz, 56.

The ZCPS2 said that Cabayacruz, in the midst of their altercation, pulled a bolo from the scabbard and hacked Noyad several times.

The police said Noyad was admitted at the Cristino Paragas Memorial Hospital in Quiniput village for treatment.
