Davao to celebrate MSME Development Week

TO CONTINUOUSLY pay tribute to the entrepreneurs who have been contributing a lot to the economic development of the country, the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Development Week will be celebrated on July 5 to 9.

In Davao City, the celebration will start with the MSME Conference and Opening Ceremonies on July 5, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon, at the Activity Center of NCCC Mall in Ma-a.

Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio, along with the officials of the MSMED Council headed by Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) president Robert C. Quinto will honor the said opening ceremonies.

Following the opening ceremonies will be a number of seminars, which are lined up for the celebration.

Anchoring on this year's theme of "Negosyo: Landas Tungo sa Kaunlaran", these seminars are expected to encourage more Dabawenyos to engage in business and to hone the existing MSMEs further as they run their business.

On July 5 to 6, the Seminar on Material Specification and Equipment Design for Food and Processing and Industry will be conducted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Davao Episcopal Mission Center along McArthur Highway in Matina.

The seminars on Developing an Entrepreneurial Mindset, How to Start a Business, 5S of Good Housekeeping, and How to Register Your Business will be held at the Conference Room of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) 11 on Monteverde Avenue corner Sales Street, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on July 6, 7, 8, and 9, respectively.

A seminar on Basic Food Safety will be held on July 9, from 1 to 5 p.m., at the Fuschia Room of the City Council.

Aside from these seminars, a Forum on Financing Opportunities will likewise be held on July 6 and 7, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, still at the Fuschia Room of the City Council.

To showcase the products of the MSMEs, there will be two exhibits to be mounted simultaneously at the City Council Lobby and NCCC Mall Activity Center on July 6 to 10. (DTI-11/Jenny Molbog-Mendoza)
