MEXICO -- Lakeshore Estate will host the first Super Triathlon Series here on July 18 at 6 a.m. with the goal of introducing triathlon to families and the growing running and bicycling communities in the province.

The triathlon event dubbed "The New Balance-David's Salon Super Tri Series" is a project of Centro Fidei School as part of the school's commitment to be active in community events in Pampanga.

By holding short distance races with various categories in a novel point race series, the organizing committee hopes to spearhead the effort in promoting triathlon as a lifelong sport that can be participated in by the weekend athlete.

Lakeshore Estate, in a statement sent to Sun.Star Pampanga, said that it is generous enough to be the venue host for this 5 race series. The Lakeshore has been chosen for its 12-hectare manmade lake and scenic jogging and biking path not to mention its proximity to Clark, Subic and Manila.

Apart from the traditional categories based on gender and age, there will be categories for triathletes on mountain bikes, beginners and veterans, kids and Clydesdale (190 lbs up.) and team events. This being done to involve a host of participants of various backgrounds emphasizing that triathlon can be for everyone.

"We expect about 100 athletes and their families to attend the first race with the number growing as awareness of the series gain momentum," the Lakeshore Estate said in a statement. Experienced triathletes looking for warm up races and beginner triathletes and their families are expected to participate in the coming event.
