MANILA -- Two suspects believed to be responsible in the murder of a Maguindanao massacre key witness were arrested, police report said Sunday.

The suspects were identified as Abdullah Pasawilan alias Bedo Pasawilan and Morsed Simpal.

Reports from Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Regional Unit in Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm) said the two were nabbed Friday when CIDG operatives conducted a raid at their residences in search of possible evidences used in the murder of Suwaib Upham alias Jesse.

Upham confessed to be one of the gunmen who executed the gruesome carnage in Maguindanao involving the family of Maguindanao Governor-elect Ishmael Mangudadatu, media practitioners, and lawyers.

He was killed last June in Parang, Maguindanao.

Recovered from the suspects were two .45 mm caliber pistols that authorities have submitted for ballistics and forensic examination.

Aside from guns, two grenades were also seized from the suspects.

Pasawilan and Simpal were presented for inquest proceedings last Friday before the Provincial Prosecutor's Office for violation of Illegal Possession of Firearms and Explosives. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
