BASILAN Governor Jum Akbar announced that she is introducing new approaches in governance to bring about reforms in the province.

Akbar, who is now serving on her second term of office, said her governance will give more focus on peace building, socio-economic programs and implementation of needed infrastructure support facilities.

Akbar said the Provincial Government's social services program has been directed toward better accessibility and improved delivery of basic services to the poor, the marginalized and the underserved.

Akbar called on the Basileños' cooperation to be able for them to achieve in bringing progress to Basilan citing "our governance this time shall be anchored on consultation, cooperation and teamwork."

"I cannot do this alone, because this is a very great undertaking that needs collaborative efforts," Akbar said.

Akbar noted that she encountered so many challenges in running the affairs of the province, particularly on the implementation of development projects, stabilization of peace and order condition, poverty alleviation, reduction of illiteracy and others during her first term of office.

"I request that we all join hands together and reaffirm out commitment of support to the administration (of the Provincial Government) with the end goal to improve the standard of live of every Basileño, which we have vowed to serve," she added. (Bong Garcia)
