Halili reiterates tourism plan

MABALACAT -- First district Provincial Board member Tarcicio Halili reiterated on Monday his tourism plan for Pampanga.

Halili, now the new Provincial Board committee chair on tourism and labor, said that he will implement programs to market the potential of the province in terms of eco-tourism, festivals, and historic landmarks.

He cited the eco-tourism spots of the province including the Arayat national park, several falls in the towns of Porac and Mabalacat, the Clark Freeport, among others.

The provincial legislator earlier said that he will push for a comprehensive tourism master plan to develop the tourism potentials of various towns.

Meetings and consultations and the eventual passing of an implementing ordinance on tourism will be made, Halili said.

The proposed crafting of a tourism plan for Pampanga is expected to further boost the National Government's tourism agenda in the province.

Halili said he has already echoed the tourism plan to local government units, business, academe and civil society.

The tourism plan will also call for the positioning of the festival schedules in various towns as a year-round activity for the province to be promoted as a complete package to tourists.

The plan also include enhancement of the environment, education, poverty alleviation and infrastructure development, Halili said.

For the labor agenda, he said he will coordinate with the Provincial Employment Services Office and the Technical Education Skills Development Authority on how to increase and generate employment.

As vice chair of the Committee on Senior Citizens, Halili said he will propose and pass the necessary legislation that will benefit the elderly, after allegedly being "neglected" by the past administration. (With report from Jovi T. De Leon)
