Drilon offers Leonardia senatorial seat

SENATOR Franklin Drilon offered Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia a senatorial seat on the mid-year elections in 2013, as President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III will present a strong ticket for the Senate.

Drilon was the keynote speaker during the inauguration of Leonardia, Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson and members of the City Council at the Government Center grounds last Saturday.

He said looking at the achievements of the Leonardia administration, the mayor and the rest of the city officials deserve the trust of the people of Bacolod because of the solid foundation they built.

Drilon committed to help the City of Bacolod in whatever way he can in terms of its future plans and programs.

He also said it took him nine hours to finally get to Bacolod City due to flight delays. "It was the longest journey that I took from Manila just to be present in the inauguration of the new set of officials. Thanks for the kind invitation for me to join you in the inaugural event as Mayor Leonardia and all the city officials take their oath of office."

It was his first public appearance as Senator of the 15th Congress. Drilon got 555,000 votes in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City in the last May 10, 2010 elections and he expressed his sincerest gratitude to everyone for such an overwhelming support.

He formally congratulated the elected officials led by Leonardia and called the new set of officials as the "Team Leonardia." (CNC)
