COMING up at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel is the Sabores de España food festival, which will be from July 16 to 25. An array of favorite Spanish dishes will be offered at Cafe Marco while Spanish delicacies served a la carte will be featured at the other food outlets. Spanish food authority Gema Luisa Pido acts as consultant and will share treasured family recipes during the foodfest.

To complete the Spanish feel, internationally-awarded pianist Maestro Jovianney Emmanuel Cruz and guitarist Ruben Reyes will play Spanish music at the Lobby Lounge from July 16 to 18, as part of the hotel’s Champagne Series.

Festive Fusion was the appreciation party jointly hosted by the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino and the Waterfront Airport Hotel & Casino for their top accounts. Held at the Pacific Grand ballroom of the city hotel, the dinner affair brought together representatives from the major corporate and travel accounts as well as the top event producers and organizers for the year 2009. Entertainment was provided for by the University of Cebu Dance Troupe and the University of Visayas Chorale.

Called Avida Towers, the new condominium project is positioned to address the needs of the growing Cebu market. The Avida brand emphasizes “Affordable living at its best.”

For his birthday celebration this year, Vince Colina opted for a sunset cruise, with a small group of friends onboard the luxurious yacht of good friend Sakae Torisawa. After the cruise around the Mactan Channel all the way to the SRP, the Halcyon docked at the Yacht Club. Dinner onboard was a sumptuous spread prepared by the celebrant’s better-half Lucille. Piece de resistance was the tenderest of Angus beef.

June is a red-letter month in the Go Ching Hai family. June 8 marks the birthday of patriarch engineer Go Ching Hai who had a dinner celebration with family and friends at the Cebu Country Club, while two weeks later (June 20) it was loving wife Beling who notched another year. She opted for an all-hen affair at Cafe Uno of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel. As one of the community’s civic leaders, Beling was surrounded by wellwishers from the different civic organizations in Cebu.

For her 70th birthday, Emma Lim gathered kith and kin for dinner at the Mactan Ballroom of Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa. Dancing attendance on her was the entire family led by husband Domingo. Everyone had a lovely time.

Last week Class ’86 of the Cebu Doctors College of Medicine had their 3rd batch reunion at the Baybayon ni Agalon resort in Ormoc, hosted by Dr. Judith Larrazabal Garcia who is a member of the class. The group led by Dr. Edgar Tan made a side trip to Tacloban where Dr. Chuchee Badar who was in town from San Diego, California, acted as host. The series of reunions is in preparation for their silver anniversary affair next year.
