Pelco 2 hit for poor services

MABALACAT – Scores of consumers in Barangays Mawaque and Dapdap here assailed on Tuesday what they described as poor services of the Pampanga Electric Cooperative 2 (Pelco 2).

The consumers relayed their complaint to Sun.Star Pampanga saying that the electric cooperative maintains only one payment office at the Madapdap area, which covers several eastern villages including Mawaque, Sapang Biabas Dapdap, Bundagul, Paralayunan, and Sapang Balen, among others.

With this huge area, consumers have to go through a long queue before they can pay for their monthly electric bills.

“Ang haba ng pila. Minsan umaabot ng mahigit isang daan ang mga nagbabayad jan. Naiistorbo kami sa mga hanap buhay namin dahil sa pagbabayad ng ilaw. Nagbabayad kana pinapahintay ka pa nila ng matagal,” one of the complaining consumers lamented.

They suggested that the Pelco 2 management should establish many payment areas around the municipality for the convenience of the electric cooperative’s member-consumers.

Pelco 2 should also integrate its computer system so that consumers can pay their electric bills in any office maintained by the electric cooperative, they said.

The consumers also opined that the electric cooperative should tie up with local banks where its members can pay for their bills.

They even cited the services of the Mabalacat Water District (MWD) which they claimed is fast improving.

MWD concessionaires can settle their water bills in any office of the water system scattered all over the town. They can also pay in banks like Postal Bank, First Provincial Bank, and Banco San Juan.

Sun.Star Pampanga tried to reach Pelco 2 officials but was unable to do so as of this posting Wednesday.
