SM holds sports festival 2010

SM OFFICIALS and employees recently gathered together for two sports events that brought out the spirit of sportsmanship and unity in the group - the SM Marathon and the Mini Olympics.

Seventeen SM branches in Metro Manila, including the Head Office, participated in the events, which aimed to develop sportsmanship, athletic skills, and unity among employees.

The marathon, which was held at the SM Mall of Asia grounds, had 2,000 participants who had to run from the Central South Drive of the Mall of Asia Grounds to the Sea Side Boulevard.

The Mini Olympics, on the other hand, began with a parade of colors of the participating teams and members of the Sportsfest committee. They competed in the 100 -meter dash and 6 x 50 meter relay as well as fun games like the obstacle course, sack race, and tug-o-war. One of the highlights of the event was the colorful Cheer Dance Competition.

SM City North EDSA emerged as the overall winner, a title it has held for the past five years, followed by SM Harrison, and SM Manila. The group of SM Head Office, SM Mall of Asia, SM Quiapo, SM Manila and SM Bicutan topped the Cheer Dance Competition, followed by the group of SM Makati, SM Harrison and SM Cubao and the group of SM North Edsa, SM Fairview and SM Marikina.

SM Prime Holdings President Hans T. Sy with son Hans Christian; SM Retail SVP for Operations Jorge T. Mendiola, and SVP for Engineering and Security Affairs Antolin V. Paule, who is also the 2010 Sports fest Chairman, presented the awards to the winners.

The SM Sports Fests, the Marathon and Mini Olympics, are some of the company events for employees. (PR)
