Iniong joins Folayang in Singapore MMA

EDUARD Folayang's Team Lakay Wushu teammate Gina Iniong takes center stage after she was included in one of the undercards for the July 15 bout in ESPN's Martial Combat at the Sentosa Resort in Singapore.

Iniong is set to square off against China's Yang Xiao Nan and is ready to improve her 2-0 win loss slate in mix martial arts.

The former University of the Cordillera wushu sanshou athlete will be battling in the featherweight division.

The former national wushu gold medalist from 2007 - 2009 first gained attention in the local MMA scne after stopping her opponent Sonrex Patanao in the Universal Reality Combat Championship last February.

Iniong scored a tap out victory by way of a rear naked choke in the first round of their scheduled two rounder with Patanao dropping to 5 wins and one loss in her MMA career.

Martial Combat is the only MMA event officially recognized by the World #1 leader in Sports, ESPN STAR Sports, as the pinnacle of MMA competition in Asia. Top fighters from around Asia and around the World will battle in Singapore for a coveted championship, but most of all for pride, honor and glory.

The event is also sanctioned by the official governing body of MMA in Asia, the Asian MMA Federation (AMMAF). AMMAF is formally recognized by ESPN STAR Sports.

Folayang will also see action a day earlier in the competition as he guns for his first international title in MMA.

The martial combat event will feature 12 events comprising of 60 action-packed fights featuring some of the most popular and celebrated Asian fighters and many ranked fighters from around the world.

This will be the first-ever MMA event to date to receive television coverage in 24 different countries.
