Aquino no stand yet on Holiday economics (7:03 p.m.)

MANILA -- Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda clarified that Malacanang has yet to decide on the policy of moving holidays in the nearest Monday as mandated under Republic Act 9492.

“There is no stand there yet,” Lacierda said.

He pointed out that there was no discussion on the policy for now and it is not the priority of President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

He explained that he just wanted to air the position of President Aquino against the moving of Independence Day celebration or June 12 to another date but he was not pertaining to the whole policy.

“Ang tinanong sa akin yung sa june 12 lang. There is stand from President Aquino na ayaw niya na i-move yung June 12 but other than that there is no discussion and no official position yet on holiday economics. We have not made any policy the rule is still there,” he stressed.

Some favored for the policy to stay as they enjoy long weekends and have extra quality time to have family bonding. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
