Ceva, Cesafi iron out deal for new season

THE Cebu Volleyball Association (Ceva) and the Cebu Schools Athletics Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) will soon be working together for the 10th season of the collegiate league this year.

This was relayed by Ceva president Jun San Juan, who said their group had an initial meeting with Cesafi commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy yesterday.

“We will meet again later this month to finalize and submit Ceva’s costing estimate of running the Cesafi tournament,” San Juan said.

Cesafi had always wanted to tap Ceva for their volleyball competitions but both organizations disagree over the fees for the officials.

“If they will have the same rate as last year’s, we are okey na with it because we believe that they are very capable of running the tournament because they are a group of professionals who have proven themselves. They can help us in improving the tournament,” said Tiukinhoy.

He said that once everything is final, Ceva will be handling the indoor and beach volleyball tournament.

Cesafi reconsidered tapping Ceva after a controversial tournament last year which resulted to three coaches getting banned for life.
