Mayor sets meeting for Little Kibungan evacuees

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet - Mayor Greg Abalos is set to meet with non-government organizations and government agencies to talk about the state of evacuees from Little Kibungan here.

Municipal Administrator Charles Canuto said the meeting is aimed at looking for possible solutions to housing problems faced by over 100 families rendered homeless by last year's typhoon.

Hundreds of residents in Little Kibungan have been killed in the onslaught of typhoon Pepeng in October 2009. Village officials in the area have been alerted for possible landslides.

Meanwhile, among the issues to be tackled at the meeting is the identification on relocation site for the homeless.

Tawang site, the lot owned by the Benguet State University, has been identified by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources as the best area for relocation based on safety standards. (Ma. Elena Catajan)
