CANDONI Mayor Jechonias Manzano ordered the creation of checkpoints in the town after a series of apprehensions of illegally cut lumber from the tri-boundary of the town Hinoba-an and Sipalay City.
Manzano said there were three truckloads of illegally cut lumber seized last week by the Candoni police and were turned-over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
Most of these logs belong to the endangered species of trees such as Kamagong and Lawaan.
The last apprehension happened on Saturday at 5:00 a.m. and the suspected owner of these lumbers is currently detained at the Candoni police jail.
Manzano said that prevention of all illegal activities in town in the priority of his administration. ( Teresa Ellera-Dulla)
