A POLICE officer was wounded after his firearm accidentally went off while he was driving his motorcycle in Marilog district, Davao City on Sunday.

The victim who is undergoing treatment at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) is identified as Police officer 1 Edilberto Allawan of the Marilog Police Station.

Allawan was driving his motorcycle when it skidded and his caliber .45 gun tucked on his waist accidentally fired at around 10:20 a.m. Sunday.

The victim was with Police Officer 3 Mateo Lagunzad and on their way to investigate a stabbing incident in Barangay Salaysay, Marilog.

Allawan said the road was slippery and the bullet hit his foot. The victim of stabbing in Barangay Salaysay, identified as Danny Padungaw, 29, an employee of the Sumifru Philippines and resident of Salaysay Proper, was also brought to the SPMC.

Lagunzad said the stabbing occurred at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday while the victim was at the basketball court. Investigations are still ongoing to identify the man behind the crime.

Meanwhile, two brothers were stabbed while they were having a drinking spree at Bonguyan Beach Resort, Barangay Matina Aplaya, Davao City.

The victims were identified as George Cervantes Lancian, 24, a tricycle driver and Sulpicio Cervantes Carajay, a resident of San Lorenzo, Puan, Barangay Bago Gallera.

Based on the blotter of the Talomo Police Station, the victims were at the beach resort when they were attacked by the group composed of Jerby Ramos, 20; Crisanto Ramos, 20; and Rafael Pe¤era, 22, all residents of Pag-asa, Bankerohan.

George sustained a stab wound in his body while Sulpicio in his back. The suspects, who reportedly got irked after the victims insinuated innuendoes with one of their female companions, stabbed them with a broken bottle.

The suspects were brought to the Talomo Police Station while the victims are undergoing treatment at the SPMC. (AD)
