Mayor on 1st week: So far, so good

AFTER her first week as the city's chief executive, Mayor Sara Duterte said things have gone "so far, so good."

"Okay lang man. Same lang gyud sa katong vice mayor, dili stressed out (The first week was okay. It was the same during the time I was vice mayor, I wasn't stressed out)," Duterte said.

Duterte, however, noted the difference. She said as former vice mayor she placed on top of her list the opinion of now Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

"When I was the vice mayor, I can rely on someone else to make decisions, now I can no longer shove off those decisions to anybody," Duterte said in vernacular.

The mayor also said she might make decisions that may not make some happy "but for as long as it will benefit the majority, then I will go by that decision."

Duterte also said she will call all the department and offices heads on July 15 to present assessment on their respective units' performance.

"The offices would present their assessment on their staff, their plans and programs. The first one to do so perhaps should be the City Tourism Office as the Kadayawan is quite near," Duterte said in the vernacular.

Duterte did not attend the regular city department heads meeting led by City Administrator Zuleika Lopez but attended the blood letting activity of the Vice Mayor's Office, GMA Network, and the Philippine National Red Cross, instead. (Jade C. Zaldivar)
