‘Handang Maglingkod’ program launched

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) announced Monday the start of the search for the most efficient revenue district in Central Luzon who would be awarded under the “Handang Maglingkod” Program (HMP).

BIR Regional Director Romulo Aguila Jr. said that awards program is aimed at recognizing the efforts of the revenue districts in making revenue transactions fast and efficient.

The HMP, which has been institutionalized and re-launched last March, also aims to strengthen the delivery of fast, efficient, and courteous front line services to taxpayers all over the country through a nationwide competition.

The competition has two categories: district category -- participated in by all BIR revenue district offices; and the National Office category -- participated in by the Large Taxpayers Service, Collection Service, Assessment Service and Legal Service of the National Office.

The Regional Board HMP board of judges will be the BIR Regional Director as chairperson and the members composed of the presidents of designated representatives of the local Integrated Bar of the Philippines, Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry chapter members.

The search committee is expected to conduct random interviews in the different revenue offices in the region starting Tuesday. The interviews and informal inspections of the committee will become the main basis for the selection of the winners.

“The winner will then be awarded by the region and will also be awarded in the national anniversary of BIR this August,” Aguila said, stressing that the committee reports of the evaluators will also form part of the basis for the promotion revenue officials here. (Ian Ocampo Flora)
