Flights at Ozamiz airport grows by 50%

AS CAGAYAN de Oro's Lumbia Airport posted an increase in the number of flights during the first three months of the year, the Labo Airport in Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental also posted an almost 50 percent growth during the period.

Engr. Cecilio Y. Clarete, assistant regional director of the National Economic and Development Authority (Neda) in Northern Mindanao, said both incoming and outgoing passengers got a positive record for the first quarter this year with 81.06 percent and 73.33 percent, respectively.

He said a total of 27,936 incoming passengers were boarded to flights for the period this year against last year's 15,429 passengers while around 297,434 outgoing passengers were recorded for the same period in 2010 against 17,002 during the same period last year.

Also in Ozamiz City, the volume of outgoing cargoes registered a significant improvement by 106.30 percent for the first quarter this year or from 15,429 kilogram in 2009 to 27,936 kilogram in 2010.

Clarete said incoming cargoes also increased by 54.71 percent or from 192,249 kilogram in 2009 to 297,434. (Loui S. Maliza)
