A 23-YEAR-OLD old man died after his neighbor hacked him Sunday night in Barangay Augisan, Himamaylan City.
Himamaylan Police Deputy Chief Edsel Balibadlan identified the victim as Bernie Sisbino, 23, of Purok 5 Kalayaan, Barangay Aguisan, Himamaylan.
Balibadlan said the victim sustained two hack wounds on the left portion of his neck and a lone hack wound on his side, adding that he died while being rushed to the Himamaylan District Hospital.
Investigation showed that Sisbino bought a cellular phone from the son of the suspect identified as Eduardo Mayo, 42, but got mad when he found the unit defective.
Sisbino, who was reportedly armed with a bladed weapon and an arrow sling, summoned Mayo's son and challenged him for a fight. He later left and went to a nearby basketball court.
Several minutes later, Mayo followed Sisbino at the basketball court, where the hacking occurred after a verbal tussle.
Balibadlan said the suspect immediately fled away and brought with him the bolo he used in hacking Sisbino.
The police recovered the victim's shirt stained with blood, an 11-inch stainless knife, arrow sling and pair of slippers at the crime scene.
Balibadlan said the police already launched a manhunt operation against the suspect. (MAP)
