MMDA rift alarms Palace (2:42 p.m.)

MANILA -- Malacanang on Tuesday urged two top officials of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to resolve their differences once and for all.

Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said the brewing problem between MMDA chairman Oscar Inocentes and General Manager Robert Nacienceno has become a cause of concern to President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III and Executive Secretary Jojo Ochoa.

Lacierda said he has talked to Ochoa last Monday about the issue and the executive is trying to fast track the appointment of new MMDA chief in replacement of Inocentes.

“They’re on top of trying to find a good man to head the MMDA. They are aware of the concern that Inocentes and Nacianceno are not in good terms,” he said.

Earlier, Inocentes hit Nacianceno for allegedly delaying the processing of salaries of MMDA employees.

Nacianceno denied Inocentes’s statement, saying that vouchers of employees do not go through him for approval.

The two officials were reportedly having troubles in the chairmanship of the agency. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
