Group to name gambling lords

AN ANTI-gambling group is set to present the names of the “jueteng lords” before the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Krusadang Bayan Laban sa Jueteng (KBLJ) chairman Archbishop Oscar Cruz said they intend to give list to DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo once they met him.

“We will give him the list with all the names so he will know who these people are,” Cruz said.

The former Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop said there are more than 30 persons included in the list.

“It increased over the years. Before it was just 14 but now it’s more than 30,” he added.

Cruz refused to identify the names on the list but promised to disclose their identities in the proper forum.

“I will tell you later. These things were just reported to me by my peers. As far as I’m concerned what I know is what they tell me. I really don’t have direct knowledge but if necessary we will release it,” he said.

KBLJ is also planning to inform the DILG chief about the group’s monitoring system on the illegal numbers game.

“We will instruct him regarding our monitoring system in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao because we have people in different dioceses all over the Philippines that help us monitor areas with and without jueteng operations…this might be of help to our Secretary,” Cruz said.

He added that they are willing to conduct seminars in other areas in the country to make people more aware of jueteng. (FP/Sunnex)
