ROMULO "D'Gunner" Ramos of Batch '81 and Class '80 pride Suzette Morales emerged as master bowler in their respective category of the 19th St. Joseph School-La Salle Alumni Inter-class bowling tournament at the Lopue's East Bowling Centre in Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City.

Ramos clinched the title by beating Boy Wingpo (Batch '79) in the cross-over championship, 123-120 while Morales tracked downed seeded No.4 Stella Ongsingco (Class '83) in the women's final, 111-109.

For his part, Wingpo claimed the right to challenge the No.1 Ramos after crushing the twice-to-beat Jun Lozada (Class '83) in two games, as Ongsingco defeated Jumelin de La Cruz (Class '85) in the women's corner to earn a ticket versus Morales.

Ramie Reynes and Ginalou Buyco were the other members of the magic four, but lost in the crossover semi-final.

The other top bowlers who failed to land in the top four finalists for the master's plum were Melot Alimon (Batch '69); Art Palo (Class '84); Rommel Agupitan ((Batch '85); Antonio Cubita (Batch 84), and Elmer Libo-on (Batch '78) in the men's bracket.

Minnie Chua (Batch '88/2001); Lucia Calumba ('78); Mae Memoracion ('68); Weena Magturo ('78); Grace Palo ('84), and Leanie Palacios ('85).

The individual record holders are Carl Aguda (Batch '88), who registered the men's highest single at 157, as Jun Lozada (Batch '83) took the triple with 394. It was Stella Ongsingco (Class '83) who booked the women's single and triple with 156 and 371, respectively.

Batch '85 posted the team single and triple markers with 603 and 1,659.

Tournament Commissioner Bobby Aguilar of Class '85 said the final showdown in the team competition is scheduled July 17 starting at 3 p.m.

Meanwhile, the 1st Triangular Bowlfest for Unity 2010 will resume on Thursday at the Super Lanes of the Goldenfield Commercial Complex at 4 p.m.

Leading in the battle for the top 10 bowlers with one more scheduled game left are Norel Trayfalgar (BCNHS '86); Rey Gargar (DLNHS '75); Edgar De Leon (BCNHS '85); Hernand Garciniego (NOHS '73); Cero Cordova (NOHS '68); Celso Serfino (NOHS '67); Ver Villar (NOHS '66); Tura Tabusares (NOHS '80); Paul Locsin Jr. (BCNHS) and Romeo Cena (BCNHS '90) in the men's division. The women's top five players with one more round remaining are Maila Balayo (BCNHS Golden) leading followed by Devonne Fernandez (NOHS '89); Rowena Juarez (DLNHS '75); Carmen Romales (BCNHS '68), and Nelsie Popen (NOHS '80).

Still catching up to make it in the finals are Vita Paula (NOHS '70); Ronella Cordero (NOHS '89); Beth Bantad (NOHS '68), and Ann Dayot (NOHS '82).

The final 10 in the men's division and the magic five in the women's department will be known Sunday night after the elimination phase.
