Board members to hold session in Sipalay City

SOME regular sessions of the Provincial Board (PB) will become mobile type as they will be held in some towns and cities in Negros Occidental.

Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez, in fact, said they are holding their session Wednesday in Sipalay City.

He said all members of the PB will go to Sipalay City and that they will visit some of the tourism potentials in the city, as well as in Hinoba-an in the morning.

The PB members will also have a meeting with barangay officials, non-government organizations and city officials before their session starts in the afternoon.

He said they will discuss with them some projects that need counter-parting by the towns or cities, the Provincial Government and the congressional offices of the six Negros congressmen.

Alvarez said they would like to bring the government close to the people to be able to know about the projects that will be implemented to their respective areas.

He said the next session may be held in one of the towns or cities at the first district.

Alvarez also said that counter-parting project will come at the sixth district for the concreting of the Salong-Tapi Road, adding that the Government of Kabankalan under Mayor Isidro Zayco and the Office of sixth district Congresswoman Mercedes Alvarez will appropriate P10 million each as counterpart funds for the project.

Board Member Nehemias dela Cruz said they have observed enough preparation by the incumbent presiding officer.

He said the agenda for their session are already out on Mondays so they have so much time to study them for two days. The PB's regular session is held every Wednesday. (TED)
