Canillas stops Tupas in first round for 7th KO win

LARRY "Bon Jovi" Canillas scored another knockout last Tuesday as he stopped Prell Tupas in the first round of their 10-round encounter at the Lutopan Recreation Center in Toledo City.

The 25-year-old Tupas was the latest victim of Canillas's heavy hands-- his seventh knockout victory since being beaten by Reman Salim last year.

In the undercard, Marjhun Makahilig (7-1, 4 KOs) defeated Mark Anthony Geraldo (16-2-3, 8 KOs) via an eighth-round unanimous decision, 78-73, 77-74, and 78-75.

Japanese Naozumi Tsukiyama (4-1-1, 3 KOs), who fights with a prosthetic leg, decked journeyman Jojo Arnado (9-25-1, 3 KOs) in 2:25 of the first round.

Richard Areta won his debut by majority decision over Mark Jesson Taroja, while Jicky Gako beat newcomer Charlie Sabijon by unanimous decision.
