Milo list-up opens July 29

REGISTRATION for the 34th National Milo Marathon-Davao City eliminations will open on July 29 at the 2nd floor, Tamayo Bldg., Lapu-Lapu Ave, Agdao (beside Banco Filipino) and at Run Club in Bo. Obrero.

Davao leg coordinator Kenneth Sai of Vantage Sports on Thursday said the city qualifying will kick off on August 29 in an out-and-back course from Roxas Avenue. This year's event is dubbed "Championing Dreams with Every Step."

"We are expecting over 14,000 runners in this year's footrace that will introduce the ChampionChip Timing System to be used in the 21K and 10K races. The chip is a mini transponder housed in a specially designed plastic and can be used under all weather conditions. This will be used to monitor each runner's time and pace," Sai said.

He said Milo also recognizes the special need of developing under-privileged children to excel in sports by way of providing rubber shoes to one public school in cities where the Milo Marathon will also be held.

Over 200,000 Milo Marathon runners, mostly students, hit the road in key cities nationwide last year. It was observed that a good number of students ran barefoot.

Sai said the race will also feature the 3K kiddie run and 5K fun run categories for male and female runners.

Registration fees are P50 for 3K and 5K, P500 for 10K and P500 for 21K half marathon. Registrants, however, are required to bring an empty Milo 300 grams pack upon registration.

Regular side events biggest school delegation, inter-school running competition and the cheer dance competition will add spice to the running spectacle.
