Victim identifies cop as suspect

POLICE authorities are investigating the motive behind the strafing of the house of Hedjara Minalang Wednesday night allegedly involving a police officer.

Police Inspector Buenaventura Reyes, station commander of Police Station 2 in Cogon, said Minalang has accused PO1 Misuari Pido and a certain Amer Khan Buala of strafing her house on Wednesday night.

Reyes confirmed that Pido is an organic member of the Philippine National Police (PNP) assigned at the Police Regional Office 10 in Camp Alagar while Buala is a son of a late retired police officer.

However, Reyes said he doesn't have any personal knowledge on Pido's background.

On Wednesday night, two armed suspects on board a red motorcycle opened fire on Minalang's house. Operatives of Cogon Police Station who responded to the scene said no one was hurt because all of them hurriedly lied down on the floor.

Police recovered eight empty shells of M16 armalite at the crime scene.

Operatives said they believed the suspects are only out to sow terror and not to intentionally hurt the family members since they opened fire on the second floor of the house while Minalang's family slept on the ground floor.

However, PO1 Joel Gacosta of the Cogon Police Station said Minalang did not mention Pido and Buala as suspects when she reported the incident to police.

"She did not give names so we put unidentified persons on the blotter," Gacosta said in an interview over RMN-dxCC.

But when interviewed over the radio, Minalang positively identified Pido as responsible for the incident.

"I know Pido since he had been to our house as escort of Amer Khan Buala," Minalang told RMN-dxCC.

He said he is determined to file administrative and criminal cases against Pido. (Annabelle L. Ricalde)
