CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan said Sunday that that most of the top level positions inside the Clark Freeport Corporation (CDC) and the Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) may be manned by town mates of President Benigno Aquino III.

Pamintuan made this statement in amid reports that hundreds of local applicants wanting to be appointed to major positions here after Aquino, a native of Tarlac province, declared them vacant.

Updates on President Benigno Aquino III's presidency

"From what I know, most of the people who would hold positions there would come from Tarlac and I'm sure of that," Pamintuan said, stressing that he will support appointments made by the President. Pamintuan, however, refused to divulge the names of the possible candidates.

"It doesn't matter if they're not Kapampangans as long as the interest of the business sector in Clark is protected and their policies are good. Its fine with me," Pamintuan said.

He said that the next CDC and CIAC officials should continue the development programs for Clark as these would inevitably affect industries and employment in Mabalacat, Angeles City, Porac and even the city of San Fernando.

However, Pamintuan said that he is expressly pushing for the appointment of CIAC executive vice president Alex Cauguiran to the CIAC top post. He said that Cauguiran has the foresight and leadership skill to steer CIAC into further development.

"Considering the good things he has done for Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) since he was instrumental in opening the skies of our airport to more flights. I am backing Alex and I believe in his ability. But I am not in the position to recommend anybody since I am not within the immediate circle of the President," Pamintuan said, stressing that the development programs under Cauguiran would run smoothly.

"Every developmental project in Clark would have an effect on the surrounding areas," Pamintuan added.
