ANGELES CITY -- Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan of this city said on Saturday that San Fernando City Mayor Oscar Rodriguez deserves the presidency of the influential League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP).

Rodriguez was voted unanimously as LCP president on Saturday while Pamintuan was elected press relations officer (PRO) in elections held at the Century Park Hotel.

"Oca [Rodriguez] showed his mantle of leadership, his background and his person that led him to where he is now," Pamintuan said.

Rodriguez ran unopposed during Saturday's LCP election as three other contenders gave way for his candidacy.

"He even had the full backing of P.Noy [Benigno Aquino III]," Pamintuan said.

For his part, Pamintuan said that as PRO, he will be assisted by Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista and Roxas City Mayor Angel Alan Celino.
