Aquino names MWSS officer-in-charge

PRESIDENT Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III has appointed Senior Deputy Administrator Macra Cruz as officer-in-charge of Manila Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS).

Cruz was named to the post following the resignation of Rogelio Singson as administrator of the MWSS.

Singson was appointed by President Aquino as head of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

As Cruz assumed the highest post in the MWSS, Aquino noted that Singson will serve as an ex-office head of the MWSS board of trustees, according to Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda.

Lacierda also said that the President has already appointed someone to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) but he refused to name it yet pending the signing of the appointment by Aquino.

The top position for Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is still vacant with its former chairman Prospero Oreta and Tagaytay Mayor Francis Tolentino as the top leading nominees for the post.

The chairmanship of MMDA is one of the controversial unfilled posts due to issues between the two current top officials of the agency - chairman Oscar Inocentes and general manager Robert Nacianceno.

Other agencies left to be filled are Immigration and Deportation agencies, Optical Media Board and Movie and Television Regulatory Classification Board. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
