V-League: Lady Falcons sweep Bulldogs (2:22 p.m.)

MANILA -- Season contender Adamson University needed only 64 minutes to overpower National University Sunday night in the ongoing eliminations of the Shakey’s V-League Season 7 second conference at the Arena in San Juan.

Paulina Soriano wound up with 14 points, including nine kills while team captain Angela Benting provided 12 hits to upend the Lady Bulldogs in straight sets, 25-17, 25-19, 25-21.

Sheena Martin and guest players Nerissa Bautista and Angelica Quinlog launched 26 points for the San Marcelino-based squad’s even 1-1 slate.

The Lady Falcons started strong and never looked back as it derailed the attempt of the Lady Bulldogs for a second win in the tournament.

Guest player Denise Santiago posted nine points including two blocks while skipper Mervic Mangui had a seven-point output.

In the other contests, Ateneo bucked upsetting second and third sets to foil newcomer Perpetual Help, 25-15, 14-25, 20-25, 25-18, 15-12 and join San Sebastian-Excelroof on top of the eight-member tournament.

Meantime, St. Benilde remained the only team that has yet to break into the win column after it dropped its third assignment against FEU, 25-20, 25-17, 21-25, 25-22.
