Picpa launches discount program

THE Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (Picpa) Cagayan de Oro-Misamis Oriental Chapter recently launched its More Power Program (MPP), which allows all members in good standing to enjoy discounts and freebies.

Gladeys Jill A. Santos-Cua, Picpa chapter president, said members with good standing record or those who are paying their annual dues on time will be given a special card that they can use to avail of five to 20 percent discounts at Picpa's selected partner-establishments.

"Picpa has about 17 partner-establishments in the food, wellness, boutiques, restaurants and driving industries where Picpa members can get discounts," Santos-Cua said during a press conference held over the weekend at VIP Hotel.

Picpa is a globally recognized and integrated national organization of Filipino certified public accountants (CPAs) that aims to enhance the integrity of the accountancy profession, serve the best interest of its members and other stakeholders, and contribute to the attainment of the country's national objectives.

Aside from the MPP, Santos said Picpa has also organized committees on "bayad bantay buwis" to help clients not to evade tax but "help them with their taxes" instead.

"We also give at least two scholarships and educational assistance grant to poor but deserving students who are taking up accountancy courses," Santos said.

Applicants need to undergo a series of screening, interview, examination and rate income capacity of their parents before they are given the scholarship.

She said as soon as the scholars graduate and passed the licensure exam, they automatically become members of Picpa.
