Aquino reshuffles military hierarchy

PRESIDENT Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III issued his second tranche of orders for the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), approving the designations of high-ranking officials to their respective new assignments.

Lieutenant General Reynaldo Mapagu is designated as AFP Vice Chief of Staff, replacing Lieutenant General Nestor Ochoa who retired from the military service Tuesday.

Replacing Mapagu as Commanding General of the Philippine Army is Major General Arturo Ortiz.

Succeeding Ortiz as Commander of the AFP Special Operations Command is Brigadier General Roberto Morales.

Morales will be replaced by Colonel Aminkadra Undug as commander of Special Forces Regiment.

Brigadier General Rolito Abad will assume the AFP Internal Auditor, which was left vacant by Major General Emmanuel Bautista who has assumed Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations.

Succeeding Abad as Inspector General is Major General William Campos.

Replacing Campos meanwhile as Chief of Staff of the Philippine Army is Brigadier General Renato David, who will leave his post as Chief of Resource Management Office, Philippine Army.

Assuming as commander of the National Development Support Command is Major General Carlos Holganza.

Replacing Holganza as Commander of the 10th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army is Major General Jorge Segovia.

Taking Segovia's post at the 2nd Infantry Division is Brigadier General Jessie Dellosa, the outgoing Deputy Commander of the AFP Central Command in Cebu.

Brigadier General Francisco Cruz Jr, the outgoing Commander, Civil Relations Service (CRS), AFP, will assume as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence.

Replacing Cruz at CRS is Brigadier General Jose Mabanta Jr., whose designation was included in the first tranche of orders from MalacaƱang.

Colonel Nicanor Dolojan is appointed as Deputy Commander, Special Operations Command, Philippine Army, replacing Brigadier General Romulo Bambao, who was appointed Chief of the Intelligence Service of the AFP.

Colonel Romeo Gapuz was named as Commander of the 403rd Infantry Brigade, Philippine Army.

"These appointments have the approval of the President, and are natural parts of growth and dynamism of the military organization, just like any other organization," said AFP Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Ricardo David Jr.

"All appointments and designations are being made with basis on the performance and track record of an officer," he added. (VR/Sunnex)
